1. Asteria Beach

First up on our list of the best beaches in Syros is Asteria, a favourite amongst visitors and locals alike thanks to the area’s breathtaking landscape. Unlike many other Syros beaches, Asteria comprises a small stone-built platform which gazes out across the glistening Aegean and invites you to step down the ladder into its turquoise depths. Behind you, the view is just as enticing. The shore of Asteria Beach is lined with old sea captains’ mansions perched on the sides of the cliffs. Amongst these buildings, you’ll spot the magnificent blue-domed church of Aghios Nikolaos of the Rich.

Aside from its stunning surroundings, Asteria is one of the most popular beaches in Syros thanks to its convenient location, being one of the closest swimming options to the capital city of Ermoupoli. Many locals come to this Syros beach to plunge into the crystal clear waters and then find a spot on the concrete platform and dry off in the Mediterranean sun. If you get tired of basking in the sun (or more likely sun burnt), there are plenty of cosmopolitan cafes, restaurants and bars to grab a tasty bite to eat or a refreshing drink.
